I don't think it would be that bad of an idea.
In a sandbox game, it can have a ton of different outcomes.
Say, for instance, you're a "good" character, and you get attacked, maybe a pedestrian will see it and decide to help you.
Or, if you're a "bad" character, and you get attacked, maybe a pedestrian will help.. attack you.
There could be a ton of other outcomes, as well, depending on what you decide to be.
